Born in North Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Theresa Mello. She was the loving wife of the late Glen I. Minnick. Mrs. Minnick was a Homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She leaves her two children, Robert C. Minnick of North Kingstown, RI and Rosemarie Swank of Wyoming, RI. She was the cherished grandmother of three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ralph was a maintenance supervisor for Baypines VA Hospital. He was a US Marine Corps veteran during the Korean War. Ralph is survived by a daughter; Lisa L. (09/11/10) Ryan J. Batalon, 24, of Narragansett, died Thursday. Born in Providence, he was the son of Mary K. (Poole) Batalon of Cumberland and John F. and Michelle Batalon of Burrillville. Ryan was employed as a counselor at Ocean Tides, Inc. He was a 2008 graduate of the University of RI and a member of Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) fraternity. He is also survived by his siblings Justin P. Batalon and Nicole E. Batalon of Cumberland, Chance J. Batalon and John F. Batalon II of Burrillville, his fraternal grandparents Raymond and Therese Batalon, numerous aunts and uncles and cousins. He was the grandson of the late John and Ellen Poole. His calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-7 pm at Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave. Lincoln with a service at 7 pm . Bridgham of Westerly, her son, Ryan J. Bridgham – husband of Holly of Voluntown, CT, her daughter, Joellyn M. Rojas – wife of Hoslee of Westerly, six grandchildren, Monica Porter, Logan Bridgham, Alayna Rojas, Gavin Bridgham, Madilyn Rojas and Avery Rojas, two brothers, Joseph Husereau – husband of Pam of Westerly, and Stanley Husereaux of Pass Christian, MS, three sisters, Adeline Danielson – partner of Edward Cubanski of Westerly and Nancy Schutzmeister – wife of Roger of Leesburg, FL, and Dorothy Bucola – wife of Harold of Abita Springs, LA, 30 nieces and nephews, 10 grand nieces and nephews and several great-grand nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers, Patrick Husereau and Joseph Donnelly. Mrs. Bridgham was born in Westerly on June 9, 1947, the daughter of the late Stanley and Josephine (Terranova) Husereau. (09/25/10) Damian J. Ruiz, 45, of Service Street, Westerly, passed away on Saturday afternoon, September 25, 2010 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Mildred A. (Wheeler) Ruiz of Westerly. They were married at Wilcox Park, Westerly in 1998 and honeymooned in England and France. He is also survived by his step-children, Henry C. Appleton of Westerly, Alicia J. Appleton of Westerly and Justin R. Appleton of Westerly, his step-grandchildren, Nathaniel S. Burge, Braeden N. Appleton and Peyton R. Appleton, his sister, Rebecca Young of Groton, his half-brother, Michael Poole of Westerly, his aunt, Gina St. Lawrence of Westerly, and his uncle, Stephen Chiaradio of Westerly. Mr. Ruiz was born in Westerly on March 17, 1965, the son of the late Donna (Hilbert) Ruiz. For many years, he was a warehouse supervisor for Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard, CT. He loved to travel and ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. (09/27/10) Chirnside, Dorothy J. of Narragansett, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2010, at Roberts Health Centre in North Kingstown. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Jane (Rigby) Chirnside. Dorothy graduated from Bryant College and worked as an executive secretary for Narragansett Capital Corporation before retiring in 1986. She was a member of Park Place Church in Pawtucket and enjoyed knitting, reading, her dog Darcy, and traveling, especially to England and Scotland. Dorothy is survived by her siblings: Donald P. Chirnside and his wife Joan of North Kingstown, Kenneth W. Chirnside and his wife Judith of East Greenwich, and Carolyn H. Chirnside of Narragansett. She was the loving aunt of six nieces and nephews and thirteen great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be private at the request of the family. (10/04/10) North Kingstown – Estelle C. Jenison, 61, formerly of Lafayette Road, died Friday October 1, 2010 at the West Care Center in Orange City, FL after a two week illness. She was the beloved wife of Ronald C. Jenison. Mr. and Mrs. Jenison celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on October 4, 2009. Born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Germain and Aurore (Dupre) Pelissier, she had lived in North Kingstown before moving to Georgetown, FL in 2005. She was a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs School and a former secretary to the Associate Dean of the Brown University Graduate School. She was an organist and lector at St. John the Baptist Church in Crescent City, FL. She loved the outdoors, especially boating, camping and flower gardening. She also loved to travel and was a collector of antique glassware. Besides her husband she is survived by her sister Carole Levesque of Debary, FL; her brother Roger Pelissier of Woonsocket, several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, “Lucky”. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 7 at 8:45 AM from the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Mrs. Williamson was a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Luke\'s Memorial Hospital of New Hartford, NY prior to starting her family. She was a Homemaker who loved crafting, crocheting, and beading, often donating her crafts to nursing homes. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. (10/14/10) Barbara (Fuller) Colwell, 93, of Summer St., died Sunday October 10, 2010, in the South County Hospital, Wakefield, RI. She was the widow of Wilmarth C. Colwell. Mrs. Colwell was born on May 16, 1917 in Providence, a daughter of the late Lester E. and Mabel (Searle) Fuller. She had been a resident of South Kingstown for the last few months living in Warwick for most of her life. Mrs. Colwell had been a medical secretary for various medical doctors until her retirement in 1970. She currently was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wickford but had been an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Providence where she had served as treasurer for many years. Mrs. Colwell was a graduate of Bryant University. Mrs. Colwell is survived by two daughters, Elaine C. Alexander of South Kingstown, Leslie C. Gregory of Cape Coral, FL, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Doris L. Connery. Shaver, her mother, Marjorie (Matta) Prenda of Bristol, her son, Scott A. Kovach of Charlotte, NC, her daughters, Jennifer A. Fleming of Westerly and Elizabeth A. Gooding of Narragansett, her brother, David Prenda of Bristol, her sister, Maureen Giunta of Ellsworth, ME, her grandchildren, Rachael, Layla and Jude, her step-children, Wesley of Manchester, CT and Kelsey of Eastford, CT and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shaver was born in Providence on April 6, 1949, the daughter of the late Manuel Prenda and Marjorie (Matta) Prenda of Bristol. For many years, Evelyn was a beloved nurse at Westerly Hospital. Evelyn had a passion for life and acknowledged that each day was a special gift. She cherished her family, the center of her world. She learned and shared Nature\'s lessons, honoring Mother Earth through her gardens and teachings. Evelyn embraced Native American traditions and their arts & crafts. Reverend James W Donovan, C.S.P., - , RI

(11/06/10) The Reverend James W. Donovan, C.S.P., age 69, died suddenly on Oct. 27, 2010, in the Paulist Fathers\' Residence at Old St. Mary\'s Cathedral in San Francisco. Born in Providence, RI to Thomas M. and Frances C. (Fennessy) Donovan, he was a member of the Missionary Society of St. Paul the Apostle for 48 years. He was a graduate of La Salle Academy, class of 1959. He earned a bachelor\'s degree in liberal arts from St. Paul College in Washington, DC in 1964, followed by a master\'s degree from St. Paul College School of Theology in 1970. He also earned a post-graduate certificate from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1972 and a second master\'s degree in business administration focusing on labor and industrial relations from the University of Rhode Island in 1990. After entering the Paulist novitiate in 1961 and making his first promise with the Paulist Fathers on September 8, 1962, he made his final promise with the congregation on September 8, 1965, and was ordained to the Paulist priesthood on April 27, 1968. After ordination, he entered parish ministry at St. Lawrence Church and Newman Center in Minneapolis, MN., from 1968-70. He then ministered at St. Mary\'s Chinese Center in San Francisco from 1970-77. During that time he spent two years at the Chinese University in Hong Kong learning to speak and read Cantonese Chinese (1971-72). As one of the few Chinese speaking priests in the Archdiocese of San Francisco, his ministry was in great demand. He also celebrated Mass in Chinese at St. Monica and St. Ann churches. After his first assignment in San Francisco, he spent a year in campus ministry at the Newman Center of McGill University in Montreal from 1977-78. He then went on to Tucson, Arizona, where he engaged in hospital ministry for three months before he became the director of the Southeast Asian Refugee Program and subsequently the director of the School of Ministry for the Diocese of Tucson. During this time he became familiar with the Vietnamese and Hmong languages. Returning to San Francisco, he again ministered at St. Mary\'s Chinese Center from 1982-84, before entering parish ministry at St. Peter\'s Church in Toronto from 1984-85. He then spent two years earning a master\'s degree from the University of Rhode Island(1985-86). From there he went into parish ministry at St. Philip Neri Church in Portland, OR, (1987-88), followed by one year (1988-89) ministering at the Archdiocese Labor Guild for the Archdiocese of Boston. Father Donovan remained in Boston for his next assignment as director of Newman House at Boston University, where he ministered from 1989 to 1994. Later he became pastor of Old St. Mary\'s Church in Chicago (1994-2002), where he supervised the planning, fund raising and construction of the new church. He then became superior at St. Paul\'s College in Washington, DC (2002-2005), returning to St. Mary\'s Chinese Center in San Francisco in 2006. He was a loving and compassionate man who will be remembered for his keen intellect, contagious smile and tremendous wit. He was devoted to his family, his priestly community and his flock. His dedication to his Asian ministry and his particular love for the Chinese people and their customs is recognized across this continent and the Far East. He was an excellent singer and musician and as a member of the Paulist Folk Singers in the 1960\'s he performed on college campuses across the country, recording and performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 1965. A world traveler, he frequently visited his many friends in Hong Kong and celebrated Mass on a number of occasions for Mother Teresa in India. Fr. Jim maintained a close relationship with the De La Salle Christian Brothers and frequently celebrated the Eucharist with them in Narragansett, RI. He also assisted at St. Mary\'s Parish in Carolina, RI whenever he spent time at the family residence in Charlestown, RI. He is survived by his brothers Thomas, Martin, Edward (Ted) Donovan and his sister Frances (Franne) Donovan Amelse and was preceded into eternal life by his brother, John. He leaves two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, several nieces, nephews, grandnephews and a grandniece. Fr. Donovan\'s funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of his soul at 11:00 am in St. Ann Church, 1493 Cranston Street, Cranston. Interment will follow in the family plot at St. Ann Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours on Monday from 4-8 pm in the funeral home. (11/09/10) Joan B. Richmond, 71, of Victory Highway, Exeter, RI, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Kent Hospital, Warwick, RI. Born in Coventry, RI, she was the companion of Frederick A. Shadeck, Sr. and the daughter of the late Howard W. and Mildred (Sagendorf) Andrews, Sr. Joan was an attendant at Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard, CT for thirteen years until retiring. She is survived by two stepsons; Frederick A., Jr., and John L. Shadeck, a stepdaughter; Diane Worthington, two brothers; Howard W., Jr, and Wayne P. Andrews, three sisters; Beverly J. Wescott, Carolyn Lashley and Virginia M. Brown, one step granddaughter; Ashley Worthington and two step great grandchildren; Tresoro and Achondali Perez. She was predeceased by a brother; Arthur \"Buddy\" Andrews and a sister; Janice McCarthy. (11/12/10) Vestelle H. (Harrison) Brown, 85, of Friendship Street, Westerly, passed away on Sunday evening, November 7, 2010 at the Westerly Health Center. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles E. Brown. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn M. Brown of Westerly and her son, Walter E. Brown of Hope Valley, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brown enjoyed reading and playing cards very much. Vestelle was born in Statesville, TN on August 17, 1925.
