(08/11/10) Singman, John 80, passed away at home peacefully, with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Helen R. (Germano) Singman of Exeter. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this November. Born in Hyde Park, MA., he was the son of the late John and Rose Giovanni and the adopted son of the late Michael and Mary Singman. Besides his wife Helen, he is survived by a son Brian Singman and his wife Carla, two grandsons, Michael and Jeffrey Singman, all of Exeter, four sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers. Mr. Singman served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1949 - 1952. He was also an electrical contractor, heating and air conditioning technician and co-owner of Porch & Patio/Jsin Industries., Ltd. A prayer service will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Tuesday, August 17th at 10:30 AM followed with interment at R.I. (08/15/10) Carleton E. Murray, 89, died at his daughter\'s home surrounded by his family on August 11, 2010 in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. He was the son of Fred A. Murray and Bessie Bell Bettinger Murray. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth H. Murray, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Born on June 26, 1921 in Syracuse, New York, he lived in Syracuse and Fayetteville for 54 years before moving to Cape Cod with his wife in 1984. A graduate of Nottingham High School, he served three years in the U.S. Army Air Corps, retiring as a captain in 1946. During his period of service he attended the Army Air Forces Technical Training Command at Yale University. Upon discharge from service he worked with his father and brothers in the family business, Fred A. Murray Trucking. He and his brothers, Fred and Robert, eventually acquired the Carleton G. Whitaker Inc., which grew to be the largest transporter of cultured dairy products in New York State, with additional services in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Carleton was the corporate treasurer. He also served as President of the New York State Trucking Association. After retirement he and his wife traveled extensively, visited 49 out of the 50 states, with visits to friends across the country. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, and spent much time refurbishing old houses and helping friends and neighbors. Carleton is survived by his three children, Ann Ganung and her husband, James of North Kingstown, RI, Lynn C. Murrray and Karen Murray Cady, both of Salem, MA; three grandchildren, Susan Tremblay and her husband David of Providence, RI, Emily Darby and her husband, Benjamin of Middletown, DE, Carleton Ware Cady of Salem, MA and four great-grandsons, Henry, Jack , Marcus and Nicholas. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert E. Murray of Sun Lakes AZ, Betty M. Scheding and Donna M. Trowbridge, both of Syracuse, NY. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Fairchild & Meech Dewitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd. East, DeWitt, NY. Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at Fairchild & Meech. (08/17/10) Paul T. Misisco, 91, of Westerly, died on Monday morning, August 16, 2010, at the Westerly Health Center. He was the husband of the late Sarah (Angrisano) Misisco. He is survived by: his two sons Henry P. Misisco (wife Elizabeth) of Alexandria, VA and Peter T. Misisco (wife Jacqueline) of New York, NY; his grandson Peter E. Misisco (wife Julie) and granddaughters Mary E. Misisco and Tatiana L. Misisco; his brother James Misisco and sister Marie Misisco Siciliano. Mr. Misisco was born in Springfield, MA on August 26, 1918, the son of the late James and Mary (Alice) Misisco. Paul was a scientific photographer for the U. S. Navy at the Underwater Sound Laboratory. He served with the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II and retired from the Air Force Reserve as a Lt. Colonel. He was a volunteer at The Westerly Senior Center and at Westerly Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 20, at 10 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High Street, Westerly. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Irene B. (Barbone) Traver. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert C. and Julia Traver of North Stonington, his aunt, Lynn Traver of Stonington and numerous cousins. Mr. Traver was born in New London on June 26, 1950, the son of the late Thomas C. and Ann M. (Blake) Traver. He was a carpenter for many years at Electric Boat of Groton. Leslie was an avid golfer who donated his time volunteering at the Frank Olean Center of Westerly. He was involved with many local alcoholics’ anonymous groups for years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High Street, Westerly. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. (08/23/10) Jane M. Burchett, 82, of Kingstown Road and formerly of Virginia Beach, VA, died in her sleep Sunday, August 22, 2010. She was the beloved wife of Pastor Harold E. Burchett. Pastor and Mrs. Burchett celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on September 7, 2009. Born in Everett, MA she was the daughter of the late Merrill and Eudavilla (Caulder) Finch. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children Jonathan H. Burchett of Greene, Karen B. Curtis of Exeter, Rebekah B. Jordan of North Kingstown and Stephen R. Burchett of Jamestown; her brother Merrill Finch of West Bridgewater, MA, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A gifted pianist and vocalist, Mrs. Burchett met her husband through gospel singing, a ministry they continued for most of their life together. She supported her husband in his pastoral work for many decades, mentoring countless women who considered her their spiritual mother in the Lord. She fervently loved the Lord, her husband and her family. He was an associate member of the former Post 12 American Legion of Exeter. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry, and building. Besides his wife, he leaves his two brothers, Russell J. Hornik and his wife Jacquelyn of Exeter, and Dennis K. Hornik and his wife Wendy of North Kingstown. He was the cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. (Brammall) Doyle, they had been married for 36 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late James and Beatrice (Jordan) Doyle. He was a resident of North Kingstown for the past 32 years. Mr. Doyle was a member of the Teamsters Local 251 as a truck driver for the former Almacs Supermarkets for 21 years and then Arnold Lumber Company for 5 years before retiring in 2004. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran and enjoyed fishing and canoeing. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Dana Doyle of Westerly and Timothy Doyle of North Kingstown; a daughter, Cynthia Simmons in Oregon and a sister, Lucille Dowling of Seekonk, MA. Dickens, Maggie L. (Fish) Dickens, and step-son of Mary Bell (Ladd) Dickens. He was the loving husband of Grace M. (Menzies) Dickens. Mr. Dickens was a mechanic and assistant service manager for Lippitt Aviation Corp of Warwick until his retirement in 1995. He proudly served in the Army during WWII. He was awarded the Bronze Star and received the Aviation Mechanic Safety Award from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1975. He was a member of Exeter Chapel. Besides his wife, he leaves many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late E. Mildred Browning and Dora L. Peterson. His funeral service will be held on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 10:00 am in Exeter Chapel, 765 Ten Rod Road, Exeter. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
