(01/13/13) Minera âVeraâ V. (Green) Jarvis, 79, of Dixon Street, Westerly, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday morning, January 11, 2013 at the Clipper Home location of Apple Rehab of Westerly.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Henry B. Jarvis. She is survived by her five sons, Colin Jarvis of Westerly, Ernest Jarvis of Panama Beach, FL, Michael Jarvis of Narragansett, Jason Jarvis of Westerly and Peter Jarvis of Westerly, her daughter, Veta L. Haakstad, wife of Roy-Sverre of Norway, many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, twenty-two brothers and sisters of the Bahamas and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jarvis was born in Andros, Bahama Islands on May 25, 1933, the daughter of the late Prince A. and Lucy E. (Bethell) Green. She came to the United States at age 29 and resided in Old Saybrook and Mystic before settling in Westerly. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Choir.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High Street, Westerly. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

(01/13/13) Clara M. (Wenzin) Capasella, also known as Clare, of Shore Rd, Westerly, RI, passed away peacefully at age 90 on January 10, 2013.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, Kathy Ann Maggiacomo of Westerly, RI, Carolyn Mayo of W. Harrison, NY, Diane Capasella of Queens, NY and Christina Longo of White Plains, NY and her sister, Christina Klaniecki of Whiting, NJ. She was a loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren, one of whom predeceased her, Christopher R. Mayo, and 7 great grandchildren. She is also predeceased by her husband, Anthony Capasella, her sisters, Augusta Edelmann and Caroline Wenzin, and her sons-in-law Vincent Longo and Robert Mayo.
Clara was born in New York City on September 3, 1922, the daughter of the late Christian and Caroline (Phitzmier) Wenzin. On October 1, 1944 she married Anthony Capasella at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in White Plains. They met and fell in love while working together at the Westchester Country Club in Harrison, NY. After raising her daughters she worked as a Human Resource Representative at The Readerâs Digest in Pleasantville, NY for 20 years.
Clara lived most of her life in Westchester until 1987 when she retired and moved to Rhode Island. Most summer days, she could be seen swimming, sunbathing and walking on the beach. Clara was an avid golfer, gardener and traveler. She loved to cook and host family dinners. She often volunteered her time to the Chorus of Westerly and the Babcock-Smith House.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, January 14, 2013 at 10:00 am at Mt. Carmel Church. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Hillside Avenue, White Plains, NY.

(01/14/13) Falguni âFalâ B. Hauser, 43, of Narragansett Avenue, Westerly, RI, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at home, in Westerly, RI.
Born in Petlad, India, she was married to Rudolf C. Hauser, Jr. They were married for 19 years. She was the daughter of Babubhai H. and Naresha B. (Soni) Soni of Bethel, CT.
Falguni was a homemaker to her loving family. She was a 1991 graduate of the Western Connecticut State University. She was an artist and a volunteer at local schools and the Girl Scouts and was a former Board Member of the Chorus of Westerly. She was the author of the Scouting Column in the Westerly Sun.
Besides her husband she is survived by her four children; Rudolf C. Hauser, III, Ravi A. Hauser, Rashmi B. Hauser, and Aasha R. Hauser, three sisters; Bhumika A. Dave and her husband Ashesh, Sital B. Soni and her husband Ray Dubois, Seema B. Flores and her husband Salvador, her father- and mother-in-law; Rudolf C., Sr. and Lucille S. (Lussier) Hauser, two brothers-in-law; Andre E. Hauser and his wife Lisa, and Benjamin K. Hauser and his wife Jenny, and many nephews and a niece.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Chorus of Westerly, 119 High Street, Westerly, RI. (01/12/13) Anna V. (Michalka) Grich, 91, of Beachwood Apartments and formerly of Anglers Ct. in Narragansett, passed away Saturday January 12th under the loving care of the staff at the Scallop Shell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wakefield. She was the wife of the late Andrew C. Grich.
Born in Coaldale, PA, a daughter of the late Sekundin âMichaelâ and Justine (Benech) Michalka, Mrs. Grich has been a resident of South County since 1983 coming from Stratford, CT. Anna was proud of her work as an inspector at Remington Arms in Bridgeport, CT. during World War II. She was a communicant and former member of the Guild of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Narragansett. Anna had been an active member of the South County YMCA for the last thirty years. She was also a member of the Senior Youth Assoc. at the former Larry Tetreault Center in Peace Dale and the Narragansett Senior Center.
Mrs. Grich is survived by her daughter Maureen Sherback and her husband George of New Durham, NH and her two grandsons; Michael Sherback and his wife Grace Li and John Sherback and his fiancée Angela Kriley. She also leaves her very special friend Barbara Walsh of Narragansett and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Stephen and John Michalka, Justine Geusic, Mary Babinetz and Bernadine Lutchkus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday January 18th at 10:00AM in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Pt. Judith Rd., Narragansett. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Rt. 2, Exeter. Eleanor M (Wise) Wood - , RI
(01/15/13) Eleanor M. Wood, 95, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, teacher and friend, of 68 School St., Westerly, RI, wife of the late Alfred F. Wood Jr., died peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Kathryn Piacenza.
Born November 23, 1917, in Albany, N.Y. she was the daughter of Adam and Catherine (Osterhout) Wise. Mrs. Wood graduated from N.Y. State Teachers College, Albany, 1935 with a BA in education in Latin, French, and English and earned a MA in Education in Guidance 1939-1943. In N.Y. State she taught for 8 years before moving to Westerly in 1948. Here she taught languages in the Senior and Junior High Schools, then was a counselor in the Junior High for 20 years before retiring in 1983.
Mrs. Wood was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, tutored for the literacy volunteers, served in the local AARP, belonged to the Senior Citizens Center, volunteered at the Westerly Hospital and served as a board member of the Westerly Armory.
She is survived by her loving family; one son, David Wood of Westerly, two daughters, Donna Cecchini and her husband Robert of Midlothian, VA., and Kathryn Piacenza and her husband David of Ledyard, CT. with whom she made her home during her final three months of life; six grandchildren, Jaime Wood, Rochelle Shawver, Ashley Wood, Paul Cecchini, Lisa Cecchini, and Robin Piacenza; four nephews, Charles and John Wood, Richard and Chris Wise; one niece, the Rev. Dr. Victoria Wood Parrish; a sister-in-law, Martha Lou Wood, and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Warren Wise and her daughter-in-law, Dina Wood.
A remarkable example of the strength and character of a member of the âGreatest Generationâ, Eleanor will be remembered with great affection by all who knew her.

(01/26/13) James A. Lepikko, 73, of Ashaway Rd., Westerly, passed away on January 24, 2013.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane (Boucher) Lepikko. Born in Westerly on November 9, 1939, he was the son of the late Eino and Olga Lepikko. In addition to his wife, he will be greatly missed by his daughter, Tammy (Lepikko) Anderson, and son-in-law Charles Anderson of Richmond; and his son James Lepikko, Jr. of Westerly, and his loving partner Mary Perez Comstock. He was the loving grandfather of Chelsea Anderson, Bradley Anderson, James R. Lepikko and Samuel Lepikko.
He was employed in the insurance business for many years, working for Thorp & Trainer of Westerly, Woodmansee Insurance of Richmond, and as manager of the Calhoun Insurance Agency in Florida. He was also a Certified Financial Planner.
Jim was an active member of the Westerly YMCA since he was eight years old and served on its Board of Directors for a period of time. He graduated from Westerly High School in 1957 and the University of Rhode Island in 1961. He was an Elks Club member, an avid fan of the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots and a NASCAR follower. If you were within his close circle of friends, you were likely to participate in one of his frequent friendly wagers. For 47 years, he and the same group of friends regularly got together to play cards. Jim was an expert conversationalist and if you were lucky enough to meet him, you could be sure that he would quickly have you engaged in conversation, more than likely about yourself.
Jim loved traveling the country with Diane, his wife and best friend, in their motor home. Their travels included two cross-country trips throughout the U.S. and Canada. Even in his declining health, Jim never complained and always tried to be positive. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed and always remembered with much love.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. Burial will be private.

Paul T Casey - , RI
(01/26/13) Paul Thomas Casey Jr. 55, of 71 Winnapaug Rd. died Friday evening at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Norwich, CT on December 23, 1957 son of Julia V. (Rajtar) Casey and the late Paul T. Casey Sr.
On June 26, 1993 he married his beloved wife Georgann P. Schneider. Mrs. Casey survives her husband of 19 years.
Paul attended school in Norwich and graduated from the Norwich Free Academy in 1975. He went on to attend the former Thames Valley State Technical College. He was involved in Scouting for many years with Troop 79 in Norwich where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
Paul began his career in non-destructive testing at the United Nuclear Corporation in Uncasville CT and traveled extensively throughout the years in his field. He was most recently employed as a Level II NDE Inspector for the Tennessee Valley Authority and was widely respected in his field.
Paul was an avid car aficionado and a member of MercuryMarauders.net. He drove his 2003 Mercury Marauder at racetracks down south and enjoyed taking his family and friends on his famous burnout runs, including taking his wife on the âburnouts across Americaâ tour in 2004.
Known affectionately as âThe Admiralâ among his friends & co-workers, he also enjoyed clamming and quahogging on Winnapaug Pond and fishing the waters off the shore near his home in Misquamicut.
Paul joined the East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Company at the age of 16 and was still a sustaining member of the Department at the time of his death. He continued his dedicated service to his community throughout his life and has been an active member of the Misquamicut Fire Department, up until the time of his death, recently receiving a âDedication to Serviceâ Award. The firehouse was like a second home to him and he leaves behind many close friends and associates in the fire service from throughout the region.
Paul was a dedicated and loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather. His favorite times were those when he was surrounded by his loving family.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his mother, Julia V. Casey of Norwich CT, four sons, Micah Strode of Pascoag RI, Paul T. Casey III of Shrewsbury MA, Kenneth B. Godberson of Centereach NY and Kevin Godberson of Medford NY, and two daughters, Kari-ann Godberson of Worcester MA and Rachel Stockwell of Providence RI. Paul also leaves behind three brothers, Thomas P. Casey Sr. of Preston CT, Daniel H. Casey of Franklin CT, and Peter F. Casey Sr. of Winterhaven FL and five grandchildren, Cyrus Sikes, Peyton P. Strode, Kenneth Godberson III, Mathew Godberson and Olivia Godberson. Paul also had several nieces and nephews who loved and respected him very much.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday February 2, 2013 at 10:00 am directly at Christ Episcopal Church, 7 Elm Street, Westerly. Burial will follow in River Bend Cemetery in Westerly. Mr. Winters was an Electronics Technician for the Unites States Postal Service and served in The Unites States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mrs. Cournoyer specialized in the hospitality industry and was a licensed real estate broker. She loved the ocean and was very active with church, her friends and family, and enjoyed gardening. She will be missed as a charitable and kind person, a loving mother, and devoted grandmother.
She is survived by three children: Cheryl C. Gallagher of Austin, TX, Diane M. Johnson of Medfield, MA and Brian R. Cournoyer of Saunderstown, RI; four grandchildren: Sarah E. Johnson, Matthew S. Johnson, Nicholas A. Gallagher and Grace E. Gallagher.

For 54 years Jessie Boggs was a very active member of Quidnessett Baptist Church, North Kingstown. She was a sales clerk at the Quidnessett Baptist Bookstore for 25 years.
She was the loving mother of Danny Boggs of Little River, SC and Linda R. Chiarini and her husband Thomas of Coventry; grandmother to ten grandchildren: Karissa Lamirande, Joshua Chiarini, Jamin Boggs, Sarah Chiarini, Jared Boggs, Rebekah Chiarini, Kayla Boggs, Elizabeth Chiarini, Daniel Boggs and Miranda Boggs, two great-grandchildren; sister of : William, Jake, Clarence, Homer and Lillian.
She was a godly, Christian woman and loving neighbor who enjoyed cooking, being a homemaker, sewing and bowling. She was the starting guard all four years of her high school basketball team.

Mrs. Trovato was born in Hampton Falls, NH on May 19, 1924, the daughter of the late Russell P. and Elizabeth (Cutts) Merrill. After graduating from Keene State College in 1946, Caroline was a school teacher for the Town of Exeter, NH School System. She was a member of the Garden Club and the Womenâs Guild of St. Patrickâs Church, both of Armonk, NY. Caroline was an avid reader and scrabble player, she enjoyed the beach, but most of all, she enjoyed her family.

(02/08/13) Vincent J. Faulise, 85, of Faulise Avenue, Pawcatuck, passed away on Thursday morning, February 7, 2013 at the Westerly Hospital. He is survived by his former wife, Marilyn L. (Jones) Faulise of Hope Valley; his son and daughter-in-law, John A. Faulise and Sandra J. Carmichael of Westerly; his daughter Fay L. Faulise of Pawcatuck; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie A. and Lawrence McNeill of Pawcatuck; four grandchildren, Lisa Johnson, Nick Faulise, Ellen Faulise and Eric Faulise; his brother, Sam (Anita) Faulise of Wethersfield, CT; and two sisters, Frances (John) Campbell and Josephine (Ray) Burns.
Mr. Faulise was pre-deceased by his son, Michael J. Faulise (Marie Ladd) and brothers Joseph (Elsie), Jack (Claire) and John (Dorothy) and sisters Margaret (Clell) Donald, Mary (Arthur) Woods, Rose (Joseph) Henry and Kathryn (Tom) Piccolo. Vincentâs social life centered around his family, and he especially enjoyed sharing life lessons with his nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Mr. Faulise was born in Pawcatuck on December 11, 1927, the son of the late Antonio and Rosa (Limanni) Faulise. He was a communicant of St. Michaelâs Parish and a member of the Maria Assunta Society and the Italian-American Club. He was a carpenter and proud lifetime member of Connecticut Carpenters Union Local #24. He built and resided in homes on Faulise Avenue and became a licensed Real Estate Broker in Connecticut and Rhode Island. He was devoted to the betterment of the town of Stonington: he served on the Board of Education from 1962 to 1969; remained active in town affairs through his work with the Concerned Citizens for Better Government; and joined a group of citizens who advocated for, and won, approval for a Post Office in Pawcatuck.
His love of sports grew from his remarkable career as a cross country runner at Stonington High School, where he was Captain of the Cross Country Team for three years. âThe Little Bearâ led his team to the Eastern Connecticut Conference Championship twice, and his individual accomplishments in cross-country competition are unique standouts in Stonington High School athletics. Later in life he became an avid golfer and sports fan of the Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and the University of Connecticut womenâs basketball team.

(02/11/13) South Kingstown - Barbara B. Giarrusso, 85, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2013 at Scalabrini Villa in North Kingstown.
Born and raised in Newport, she also resided in Cranston and Wakefield. A graduate of Rogers High School in 1945 and the University of Rhode Island in 1949 she was a teacher and a guidance counselor for the Smithfield School Department for 25 years.
After retirement she gave generously of her time and talents through the Order of the Eastern Star, (rising to the position of Worthy Grand Matron) as well as Daughters of the American Revolution, Indian lake Shores Fire District Council, South County Hospital and other organizations.
She was a member of the Church of the Ascension in Wakefield and of the URI Alumni Association. She enjoyed knitting, reading, baking, walking and travel as well as spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her two daughters Phyllis of Cranston and Patricia of Wakefield; her son Paul and his wife Patricia of Wakefield; her brother Ralph Brierley Jr. of Solon, ME and her three granddaughters Carrie, Gabrielle and Laura.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 15th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Ascension, 370 Main Street, Wakefield. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Wakefield will be held privately by her family in the spring.

Richard "Dick" L Surprenant - , RI
(02/16/13) Richard Louis Surprenant, 80, of Canyon Drive, Westerly, passed away at the Westerly Health Center on Thursday, February 14, 2013.
Richard âDickâ was born on July 31, 1932, the son of the late Romeo and Jeanette (Coderre) Surprenant. He graduated from the Norwich Free Academy, Class of 1949. After proudly serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he attended Hillyer College in Hartford, CT.
On October 15, 1955, he married Gertrude âBettyâ Treat of Norwich and they raised their family initially in Norwich and later in Central Village, CT. Dick was a member of the American Legion in Moosup, CT and was active in local youth sports programs. He was also a member of St. Clare Church in Misquamicut, RI. Dick retired from United Nuclear in Uncasville, CT in 1991 and he and Betty then enjoyed many years sailing the GETS II along Narrangansett Bay and Long Island Sound with Molly, their beloved sea dog. Dick was also an avid craftsman who honed his natural talents in woodworking and whose handmade designs grace the homes of his extended family and friends today.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of 57 years of Westerly; his son Richard Surprenant of Westerly and his sons Jared and Kyle and their mother Betsy; his daughter Renee Surprenant and her husband Joseph Breen and their children Colin and Haley of Woodstock, CT; his daughter Michelle Goettlich and her husband Keith and their children Dylan and his wife Kristen of San Francisco, CA and Kylie of Rochester, MA; his daughter, Paula Fontana of West Hartford and her children, Lena and Lorenzo, and their father Michael Fontana; his son, John Surprenant and his wife Melissa of Dudley, MA and their daughter, Peyton; his son, Jeffrey Surprenant and his wife Jill of Agawam, MA and their daughters, Samantha, Emily and Madelyn; and his brother, Robert Surprenant and his wife Marilyn of Hudson Falls, NY.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at The Church of St. Clare, 62 Crandall Avenue, Misquamicut, RI 02891.
Calling hours are respectfully omitted with no procession to the church. Internment with full military honors will be held at the Rhode Island Veteranâs Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI immediately following the Mass.

(02/16/13) Gloria T. (Trombino) Pucci, 91, of Dixon Street, Westerly, passed away on Saturday morning, February 16, 2013 at the Westerly Hospital. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas A. Pucci in 1991. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Katherine R. and John F. Klewin of Mystic, her daughter and son-in-law, Sally A. and Robert F. Vidal of North Stonington, her daughter, Mary Lou Richmond of Hopkinton, seven grandchildren, Lauren Casady, Kevin Casady, Brian Casady, Otis âBudâ Burge, Brandon Burge, Karen Gauthier and Katie Klewin, nine great-grandchildren and her sister, Clara Buck of Westerly. Gloria was also pre-deceased by her son-in-law, William Richmond.
Mrs. Pucci was born in Bradford on June 30, 1921, the daughter of the late Antonio and Rosa (Quattromani) Trombino. For many years, she was a weaver for the George C. Moore Company of Westerly. She was the chairwoman of the Loyal Order of Moose, a member of the Womenâs Auxiliary of the Bradford Citizenâs Club and a volunteer companion at the Adult Day Center of Westerly.
Gloria enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bingo and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 7 Church Street, Bradford. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly.

(02/21/13) Constance M. (Archer) Post, 61, of Spuchy Drive, Westerly, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at her home. She is survived by her husband of almost 23 years, Franklyn C. Post of Westerly. They were married on March 31, 1990. She is also survived by her daughter, Sonya-Marie Czmyr of Virginia Beach, VA, three grandchildren, her brother Fred, her sisters Pam, Sandra and Brenda and many nieces and nephews. Constance was pre-deceased by her sister, Mary J. Pinkston.
Mrs. Post was born in Columbia Falls, ME, the daughter of the late Neil and Rosalie (Gray) Archer. She was a painter for many years at Electric Boat in Groton.
A funeral service will be held at the Pilgrims Baptist Church, 27 Chase Hill Road, Ashaway on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 10:00 am. There will be no procession from the funeral home. (02/23/13) James R. Mehlenbacher, 65, of Chestnut Street, Westerly, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, February 12, 2013 at the Westerly Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine M. (Kelly) Mehlenbacher of Westerly, his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Philip Dorrian of Webster, MA, his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Patti Mehlenbacher of Plainfield, CT, his son, Jamie Mehlenbacher of Charlestown, three grandchildren, Jennifer Dorrian, Erin Dorrian and Ryan Dorrian, his brothers and sisters, Joanne, Norman, Sylvia, Patty, Rowland and Gerald.
James was born in Avoca, NY on July 26, 1947, the son of the late Lawrence and Pearl (Sloate) Mehlenbacher. He was a machinist for many years at Davis-Standard.

(02/24/13) Domenic Frank Mastrangelo, age 88, passed away in Hospice care at South County Hospital in South Kingstown on Saturday, February 23, 2013.
Domenic is survived by Regina (Caforio), his loving wife of 68 years, along with his three children, Donna Wild and husband David, Sandra Austin and husband Gary, and Paul Mastrangelo and wife Kim; his sister, Anna Savory; his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sisters.
He was born in Providence, son of the late Angelo and Jennie (Castrataro) Mastrangelo. He served as a radio operator in the Army Air Corp before settling in Warwick to raise his family, retiring to Florida to play softball, and then returning to Rhode Island to be with family.
His pastimes included guarding his best mushrooming locations, communal cigar smoking on his back porch with \"Coffee Royals\" and watching the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots \"wait \'til next year.\"
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:00AM in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston, RI followed by a reflection in the parish hall, and a private burial at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery.
