(09/20/12) North Kingstown- Crosby, Marjorie A. (Babcock) formerly of Cranston and Warwick, RI passed away on September 20, 2012 at the age of 93. Marjorie was the beloved wife of the late Walter P. Crosby III for 70 years.
Marjorie was the daughter of the late Irving P. Babcock and Esther Bemis as well as the
sister of the late Phyllis Stevens. Marjorie worked for many years at Calart Artificial
Flower Co. For 28 years, she enjoyed spending her winters in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Marjorie leaves behind one son, Robert D. Crosby, and his wife Kathryn of Warwick, RI,
and two daughters, Jean E. Cameron and her husband Harold of Saunderstown, RI,
and Carol C. Carlisle and her husband Carlton of Narragansett, RI.
Marjorie was the cherished Nanny to six grandchildren, Karen Cameron DiFazio and
her husband Ernest, C. Scott Carlisle and his wife Laura, Susan Cameron Grundy and
her husband David, Michael Crosby and his wife Julia, Christine Carlisle Toolan and her
husband Paul, and Allison Crosby Lombardi and her husband Adam. She was also the
proud great-grandmother to nine great grandchildren.
Marjorie was loved and admired for her special talent and tireless effort knitting many
afghans for her family for special occasions over many years, including birthdays,
graduations and weddings. These pieces are still cherished by all who received them.

(09/24/12) Ethel M. (Sciola) Williams, 91, of Johnny Cake Tr. in Peace Dale, passed away Tuesday September 25th in the South Kingstown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Kingston. She was the wife of the late Floyd A. âTexâ Williams.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Antonio and Lucy (Angrisani) Sciola, Ethel was a lifelong resident of South County. She had worked in the Peace Dale Mills when she was younger and at Webbing Industries at Quonset. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Wakefield. For many years Mrs. Williams was a volunteer at the former Larry Tetreault Senior Center now The Center for South Kingstown Senior Services. Her greatest joys, however, came from caring for her many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Williams is survived by two sons; David B. Williams and his wife Allison Allfrey-Williams of North Kingstown and Allen W. and his wife Maureen Williams of Wakefield, her daughter Anita and her husband Larry Brown of Phoenix City, Alabama, her brother Antonio âJayâ Sciola, Jr. of Wakefield her sister Magdalen Futch of Lakeland, FL. She also leaves six grand children; Kevin Brown, Drew, Greg, Lee, Nicholas and Victoria Williams and seven great grand children. She was the grandmother of the late Kathy Brown and the sister of the late Clemente Sciola.

(10/06/12) Exeter - Makayla Stephenie Giordano, 10, a 5th grade student at Metcalf Elementary School died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Hasbro Childrens Hospital in Providence surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Nashua, NH, she was the beloved daughter of Jennifer A. (LeTellier) Giordano of Exeter and Joshua S. Giordano of Hancock, NY.
Makayla loved to dance and swim, design and draw, sing and read. She was active in band at school, just learning to play the clarinet and she loved helping others in the community. Makayla will always be remembered for her love, her kindness and her generosity.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her sisters Amber Marie Giordano and Zoey Anna-Rae Giordano; her maternal grandparents Raymond and Gail (Zawadowicz) LeTellier of Danbury, NH and her paternal grandmother Vikki (Haines) Giordano of Lakewood, PA. She was the granddaughter of the late Stephen Giordano.

(10/07/12) Joan S. Dolan, 87, passed away on Thursday evening, October 4th, 2012.
Joan is survived by her four children, Susan Geers of New Jersey, Robert Dolan of Massachusetts, David Dolan of Block Island, and John Dolan of New York. She is also survived by five grandchildren, and her sister Linda Crowley of Pennsylvania.
Joan was born on February 11, 1925. Joan spent her summers on the island as a young girl, and moved to the island years later to make it her permanent home. Joan will be remembered for her love of cats and her devotion to, and love of her church.
A memorial service will be held at St. Anneâs by the Sea on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. All are welcome.

(10/08/12) Thomas M. Needham, 76, of Mettatuxet Rd. in Narragansett, passed away Monday October 8th in Westchester, PA with family. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Hoover) Needham of Narragansett.
Born in Scranton, PA, a son of the late Beatrice (Thomas) Needham, Thomas was a resident of South County since 1978. During the Korean Conflict, Mr. Needham served in the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of St. Rose High School in Carbondale, PA. Thomas was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree. Thomas retired from management with JCPenney Company and was an avid striped bass fisherman.

(10/13/12) Narragansett - Frances Parsons, 91, died on Thursday, October 11, 2012 after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Rev. Forest L. Parsons. Rev. and Mrs. Parsons celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on August 22, 2012.
Born in Seagrove, NC she was the daughter of the late Rev. George and Mrs. Mary (Hattman) Wiesen. She was the cherished mother of Leslie Anne Erickson, whose husband is Bruce, of Narragansett and Philip G. Parsons, whose wife is Cristina, of Johnston; grandmother to Rebecca Paquette, Jon Erickson, Katherine and Matthew Parsons and great grandmother to Madeline, Ruby and Eden Paquette, Bryson and Colin Griffis Parsons and Emma Parsons. She was the sister of Anne (Weisen) Brown of Piper Shores, ME and of the late Henry and George Wiesen.
Frances and her husband served with the American Baptist Mission in Burma in the 1940âs. She was a talented organist, a world traveler, the author of two books and an avid gardener. She will be remembered for her excellent cooking, unparalleled hospitality and her love for her family.

(10/11/12) Leonard L. Friel, Jr., 71, of Saltaire Ave. in Narragansett, passed away Thursday October 11th in the South County Hospital in Wakefield. Â He was the husband of Mary Jane (Dennis) Friel of Narragansett.

He was born in Providence on May 29, 1941, a son of the late Leonard P. and Alice V. (Donnelly) Friel. Â Mr. Friel summered in Bonnet Shores since 1954 moving to Pt. Judith permanently in 2000. Â Leonard was a graduate of LaSalle High School class of 1959 and Providence College class of 1963 and received his MBA from New Haven University in 1975. Â For 34 years Mr. Friel was a salesman for the Pfizer Laboratories retiring in 2000. Â He was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Narragansett. Â He was a past president of the Lions Club in Ledyard, CT as well as a past president of the Ledyard Youth League.

Besides his wife Mary Jane, Mr. Friel is survived by four children; Leonard L. Friel III, Mary Friel-Levcowich, Michael J. Friel and Kevin P. Born in Stonington, Connecticut, she was a daughter of the late Noel and Lozia (Vinet) Leduc. Lillian had resided in Pawtucket and Fort Lee, New Jersey before moving to Narragansett in 1986. She loved her family and friends and was a volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of RI. Lillian lived through the great depression; four wars; saw the first airplane flight and voted in the first election, when women were allowed to vote. She leaves two sons and their spouses, Richard and Irene Lamontagne of Narragansett and Robert and Barbara Lamontagne of Mahwah, New Jersey; a brother, Raymond Leduc and his wife, Louise of Narragansett; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson and nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Donald Lamontagne and Raymond Lamontagne, and the sister of the late Dorothy Schoenfeld, Alice Thibeault, Florence Lenney and Bertrande Reilly. (10/25/12) Peter V. Emanuel, 93, of Lafayette, LA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2012. He was pre-deceased by his son, Paul M. Emanuele and his brother, Dr. Michael A. Emanuel. He is survived by two sons, Christopher J. Emanuel and Philip V. Emanuel, two granddaughters, Eden Moon Emanuel and Megan Caroline Emanuel, his sister, Jane Lenihan of Westerly, his nephew, Ralph Lenihan and children Chad, Christine and Annette of Westerly and his devoted friend and companion, Joyce G. Perkins of Opelousas, LA.
Mr. Emanuel was born in Pawcatuck, CT on September 24, 1919, the son of the late Natale C. and Rosa (Muni) Emanuel. He was raised in Westerly, attended the University of Rhode Island and graduated with a degree in biology in 1942. While in college, he participated in the Civilian Pilot Training Program where he earned his pilotâs license. Upon graduation, he joined the Army Air Corp Cadet program, trained as a Celestial Navigator, was commissioned an officer and graduated with a rating of Precision Bombardier. He joined the 41st medium bomber group (B-25) Mitchell bomber crew as navigator-bombardier and served in the South Pacific and Southern Japan during World War II. After the war, he joined Servel Corporation as an engineer trainee. In 1963, he co-founded and later became owner of TriChem Industries, Inc. in Bossier City, LA. After 25 years, he retired from United Gas Corporation of Shreveport, LA, in 1975. He was a licensed broker and had his own real estate firm. He held memberships in the Shreveport-Bossier Board of Realtors and the Lafayette Board of Realtors. He also held various assignments with the 917th Fighter Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base in the Ready Reserves and retired as a Lt. Colonel USAF in 1979. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1048, Opelousas, LA, the Knights of Columbus #3407, Shreveport, LA, a member of MOAA â the Military Officers Association of America and a life member of the LesViex Chene Golf Course. His love of playing golf with friends continued until he was 90.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Funeral services are under the direction of Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly.

(10/26/12) Dean V. Streeper, 46, of Oak Hill Rd. in Narragansett, passed away after a long illness Friday October 26th in the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Savage) Streeper of Narragansett.
Born in Providence, a son of Norma (Souza) Streeper and the late Arthur Streeper, Dean had lived in Narragansett for the past four years coming from Cranston. Dean had worked construction for many years.
Besides his beloved wife Sandra and his mother Norma, Dean is survived by a son Dean Streeper, Jr., a daughter Tiffany Streeper, three step sons Robert Savage and Cody and Nicholaus Oliveira, three brothers, William and Norman Benevides and Darryl Streeper, two sisters Lydia Galligan and Vera Watkins and a very special person Marcia Streeper. He was the brother of the late Anthony, Denise, Wayne and Harry Benevides.

Elda E (Petrucci) Coppa - , RI
(10/28/12) Elda E. Coppa (94) passed away at Scalabrini Nursing Home, on October 27th. She was a resident of Providence, and North Kingstown where she had summered for more than fifty years. Elda was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Vito L. Coppa. They had been married for 54 years.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Eva (Fazzi) Petrucci. Elda graduated Summa Cum Laude from Classical High School, and Rhode Island College of Education. In 1943 she was maid of honor at the christening of the submarine USS Plaice that was sponsored by her cousin, Eleanor Fazzi. She later taught in the Providence School system for several years.
Elda was a communicant of St. Pius Church and St Francis de Sales. She was a Girl Scout leader, a long-time volunteer at Women & Infants Hospital, a member of the Womenâs Auxiliary to the Rhode Island Medical Society, a class secretary for Rhode Island College (â38), a Veridame of Providence College, a member of the Sundial Garden Club, and she was active in the Shore Acres Community Association as well as the Elmhurst Arboretum Association and North Kingstown Womenâs Club. A charter member of Wickford Yacht Club, she especially loved sailing aboard Special Delivery.
Elda was a wonderful cook and loved to host large gatherings of family members and friends. She enjoyed reading, swimming, boating, traveling, playing a multitude of board games and was an avid fan of Providence College basketball. Most of all, though, Elda was devoted to husband and her family.
She is survived by her brother, Rudolph Petrucci, and his wife Lucille, of Portsmouth and Scottsdale, AZ, and seven children: Gregory Coppa and his wife Abigail, Genevieve Meegan and her husband David, Michael Coppa and his wife Denise, Susan Coppa-Collins and her husband David, all of North Kingstown; John Coppa and his wife Susan of Warwick, Frank Coppa of Renssalaer, NY, and Thomas Coppa and his wife Melinda, of North Andover, MA.
She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Matthew, Celia and Peter Meegan, Alexis Francis and her husband Keith, Andrew, Charles, and Earle Coppa, Jason and Jesse Coppa, Timothy, Amanda and Sabrina Coppa, David Collins, III, and one great-grandchild, Sophia Francis.
Eldaâs love, warmth, generosity, energy, example and advice will be missed by all who knew her.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward âTeddyâ W. Hutton. Born in Claremont, New Hampshire, the daughter of the late Harry H. and Irene S. (Simmons) Hilliard, she resided in Pawtucket for many years before moving to South Kingstown in 2007. Reggie was a Registered Nurse at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island for forty years until retiring in 1990. She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army Home League for many years as well as the Rhode Island Association for the Handicapped. Reggie was a member of the Pawtucket Womenâs Club and the Memorial Hospital Volunteer Association. She enjoyed gardening, woodworking, ceramics, drawing and painting. (11/03/12) Michael S. Haberek, 41, of Bonnet Point Rd. in Narragansett, passed away Saturday November 3rd in South County Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Warwick, a son of Samuel S. Haberek of Exeter and Marsha (DiSalvo) Austin of Richmond, Michael had been a lifelong resident of South County. For many years, Michael had worked as a manager at Handriganâs Seafoods in Narragansett. Michael was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed skiing, hiking and bicycling.
Besides his father Samuel and mother Marsha, Michael is survived by his brother Steven Haberek of Richmond; sisters Dawn Cervone of Hopkinton, Mary Wilkes of Charlestown; his step father Joseph C. Austin and step mother Daye Haberek and four nieces and nephews Amanda and Aaron Cervone and Makayla and Dylan Wilkes. He also leaves his lifelong companion Joyce Dailey.

Dorothy was born in Shawnee Mission, KS on August 2, 1916, the daughter of the late Jack and Elizabeth (Moran) Hauser. For many years, she was a lab technician at the Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Dina J (Mowrey) Panciera - , RI
(11/05/12) Dina Jean Panciera (Mowrey), 56, peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday, October 28th, 2012. She was born January 2, 1956 and was living in North Kingstown, RI.
Dina was predeceased by her brother Stephen James Panciera and her parents Nardino and Yolanda (Santulli) Panciera. She lived most of her life in RI, but spent 6 years in Canada where she attended Seneca College. There she studied Psychology and hoped to become involved in providing womenâs services. She especially wanted to help battered women. She was an avid animal lover who had a special affinity for horses and cats and cared for many of them during her life.
She also was a great lover and trainer of dogs. In addition to many cousins, aunts and uncles, Dina leaves a very dear friend Donna. Donna was a great source of support over the course of their 30 year friendship.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly.

Manuel Silva - , RI
(11/04/12) Manuel Silva, Sr., 89, of Betony Rd. in Saunderstown, passed away Sunday November 4th in his home. He was the husband of Assunta (Celeberto) Silva of Saunderstown.
Born in Providence on September 29, 1923, a son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Bettencourt) Silva, Manuel has been a resident of the South County area since 1964 coming from Providence. During World War II, Mr. Silva served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant in the 36th Texas Division earning a Silver Star and a Purple Heart. For many years, Manuel worked as a truck driver for McLean Trucking Co. and was a member of the Teamsters Local #251. He was also a member a Fox Point Sports Club and an avid soccer player.
Besides his wife, Mr. Silva is survived by his son Manuel Silva, Jr. of Charlestown; his daughter Sarah J. Silva of Port Saint Lucie, FL; his sister Angelina Silva of North Kingstown; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Joseph Silva and the brother of the late Joseph, John and Albert Silva and Mary Lopes.
A Graveside Funeral Service with Full Military Honors will take place Friday November 9th at 10:00AM in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Rt. 2, Exeter. Elizabeth P Gervasini - , RI
(11/12/12) Elizabeth P. Gervasini of 5 Shirley Drive, Misquamicut, RI died unexpectedly at home on November 11, 2012. Liz was a 1971 graduate of Westerly High School and remained an avid WHS sports fan throughout her life. She graduated from Rhode Island College in 1975 with a bachelorâs degree in theatre education. After working for many years for the Social Security Administration in Oregon and Washington, as well as in Massachusetts, Liz returned home to Misquamicut in 1996 to care for her mother. Liz was employed as a library assistant in the Westerly Elementary Schools and at the time of her death an administrative assistant at Westerly High School where she enthusiastically supported WHS students in all of their extracurricular activities. She was an active member in Local 808, Laborers International Union. A volunteer throughout the community, Liz served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Clare Church in Misquamicut and frequently visited the Watch Hill Manor to enjoy games of cribbage. In addition to her love of Westerly sports, Liz was committed to the professional sports teams of Boston â the Celtics, Bruins, and especially the Red Sox. For many years Liz watched the Boston Marathon and the Red Sox on Patriotâs Day in Boston, cheering for friends and sharing the experience with her sisters and their families. Liz enjoyed traveling, especially in recent years with her sisters.
Liz was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth C. and Albert A. Gervasini of Misquamicut. She is survived by her sisters: Eleanor and Ray Willis of New Haven, CT; Marion Gervasini of Copenhagen, Denmark; Anne and Tom Liguori of Westerly, RI; Alice A. Gervasini of Boston, MA; and Clare and Stephen Sandstrom of Bristol, CT. Liz is also survived by nieces and nephews, whom she treated like her own children: Christopher and Rebecca Toscano and their sons Joseph and Wesley of Chicago, IL; Nicole and David Micklich and their daughters Alex and Emily Anne of Westbrook, CT; Leanne and Ryan Noonan of Westerly, RI; TJ Liguori of Worcester, MA; Eliza and David Nardone and their son Alex of New Haven, CT; Raymond Willis of New Haven, CT; Timm Nielsen of Copenhagen, Denmark; Mark Nielsen of Copenhagen, Denmark; Bruce Sandstrom of Bristol, CT; and, PFC Eric Sandstrom, USMC, Pensacola, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Clare Church, 62 Crandall Avenue, Misquamicut, RI 02891. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 pm at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly.
